Landing Height System from Microkit Solutions

Late in 2020 Microkit Solutions came out with an inexpensive kit that verbally calls out altitudes from 100 feet to 0 feet while landing.  Later, a software update was provided so that the callouts start from 200 feet.  In that case the callouts are 200', 100', Check landing gear, 50', 20', 10', 5', 2', 1', 0'.  The kit consists of a small lidar module that mounts on an inspection plate on the wing and reads the distance to the ground.  Four wires are run to the audio panel, a switch, and a circuit breaker.  The installation takes about 7 hours.  I bought it as a test to see if it could be of use to students learning to land a plane.  When calibrated, I found it works as advertised, and I think would be a benefit to most pilots, both transitioning students and people landing at night.  Pictures of my installation are shown below.  For more information go to: https://mooneyspace.com/topic/36596-landing-height-system-for-mooney/
