The Aera 760 is the upgrade to the Aera 796. It does, however, require the addition of the GDL 52 to get SMX Weather and Audio, and ADS-B Weather and Traffic. While the 796 had a small “puck” for XM Weather and Audio, the 760 requires the larger GDL 52 to get the addition of the ADS-B functionality. Since I didn’t want the distraction of having it on the glareshield, I had the wires run to a suction cup mount that I placed on the side window. If you want correct attitude information, it should be mounted such that the antenna faces forward.
UPDATE: The side window suction cup mounting didn't work. Probably due to the slightly curved window, the unit was constantly falling off the window. I reverted back to putting the unit on the co-pilot's side of the glareshield with acceptable results.
